There was strong support in principle for the proposals, especially on the issues relating to the weight limit of Heavy Goods Vehicles, (HGVs), the pedestrian and cycle link and improvements to the public areas in Beddington Village.

Comments from the consultation were analysed and designs were revised accordingly. The proposals for the scheme were submitted to Transport for London on 25 September. Subject to a satisfactory outcome and release of funding by TfL, the scheme will be implemented in 2017-2019.

The London Borough of Sutton carried out a consultation on the proposals for the Beddington North Transport for London (TfL) Major Scheme between 26 June and 16 July 2017. This included two drop-in sessions and a workshop with guests who had shown a previous interest in the scheme. The proposals were also presented to the Wallington Local Committee on 11 July.

Leaflets for the consultation were distributed to 1,500 households within the Beddington North area and shared at Beddington North Neighbourhood Forum and Beddington Business Improvement District meetings. The consultation information was shared on the council's Facebook Page, Twitter and in Sutton Scene, Sutton Council’s email newsletter and press coverage received in the Sutton Guardian.

A total of 76 responses were received - 70 from residents and six businesses. The consultation was viewed 31,000 times across the three online platforms mentioned above.
