Sutton Liveable Neighbourhoods - funding bid
Overview
We would like your feedback and ideas to improve travel options within your neighbourhood as well as access to Sutton town centre to help inform the development of a funding bid.
Background
As part of Sutton Council’s ongoing commitment to make the Borough ‘a great place to live, work and raise a family’, we are preparing a bid to Transport for London for Liveable Neighbourhoods funding to encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport. If successful, we hope to invest in the Borough’s streets and spaces in three key areas which are shown in the map below:
In-line with the Council’s vision, Ambitious for Sutton, this work will aim to achieve the following by promoting active travel choices, more inclusive street design and placemaking:
1. Empower residents and business owners to shape their streets and public spaces through meaningful engagement and co-design sessions;
2. Reduce feelings of social isolation and support people to remain independent in our community for as long as possible and become an Age-Friendly and Dementia-Friendly Borough;
3. Provide equal opportunities to access services and support, including improved routes to Sutton’s libraries and town centres;
4. Tackle the specific issues encountered by and promote healthy living habits in young people;
5. Attract new businesses into the borough;
6. Improve travel choices to the Cancer Research Hub;
7. Invest in and protect Sutton’s heritage for future generations;
8. Plant new trees;
9. Reduce crime and inconsiderate behaviour; and
10. Improve air and water quality.
Why your views matter
We know that the people who use these streets every day know them best, so we need your help to shape this project.
Tell us what you think of your area - what needs improving? Do your local streets feel safe? Would your child like to walk, scoot or cycle to school? Is rat-running traffic a problem on your street? Are you worried about air pollution? Is it easy to access Sutton town centre? Do you need secure cycle parking? We want to hear from you!
To make it as easy as possible for you to have your say, we have created an on-line survey for people to provide their comments as well as holding pop-up events in Sutton High Street and at Sutton train station.
All your ideas and suggestions are welcome and will be used to help shape the bid.
