Our children’s centres (Startwell) support children to have the best start in life. Since the pandemic we have changed the way that our children's centres operate and have brought some services out of the buildings and into the community, at places such as local libraries and community centres. Our Home to School Assisted Travel service provides support to help children and young people to travel to school or college when they would otherwise be prevented by disability or need.
The service currently supports over 900 children and young people in Sutton. The service mostly supports children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who may find it more difficult to travel to their school or setting because of those needs.

Short breaks provide opportunities for children and young people with disabilities to take part in activities and work towards agreed outcomes, while also providing breaks for the parent/carer. They are commissioned by Sutton Council, which means that the Council identifies need, allocates resources and procures a provider to best meet those needs within the available means.
Personal budgets are paid directly to parents and carers which they use to purchase support for their child.
