Overview

Sutton Council is working in the Beddington area to make improvements. Projects have been developed in consultation with businesses and residents. This parking scheme is one of a series of projects being delivered to address issues you have identified.

Beddington Industrial Area Parking Consultation

An issue highlighted by businesses and residents in the Beddington area, is that on-street parking, concentrated in certain locations, contributes to traffic congestion by creating bottlenecks. This is particularly problematic for HGVs and buses. Other related issues include instances of anti-social parking, reduced visibility at road junctions, and air pollution caused by congestion.

In response to these concerns the council undertook parking surveys to identify parking demand in the Beddington industrial area and spoke to businesses about where problematic parking/congestion occurs.

Our survey findings indicate that there is space in the Beddington industrial area to meet parking demand whilst reducing bottlenecks caused by on-street parking.

This can be done by introducing additional yellow line waiting/parking restrictions in certain areas. Initial discussion with businesses and residents has indicated that this could be supported if it helps to resolve the kinds of problems described above.

We have drafted some proposals which we would like your views on. Depending on feedback from this consultation, councillors will decide whether or how to progress a scheme.

To view the proposals please download the PDF plans and make comments in the online survey. Please note that the plans are shown in two halves, north and south.
