Cheam Village Conservation Area Character Appraisal
Overview
The council is seeking your views on a new Cheam Village Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan, which aims to ensure only development of the very highest quality takes place in the village.
Why your views matter
The Cheam Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan identifies the character and appearance of the conservation area, as well as the buildings and key elements that make important contributions to the historical quality of the area.
This new draft document also includes a Management Plan to highlight:
- where improvements can be made;
- where retaining heritage assets intact is a priority; or
- where change may be permissible if heritage assets can be incorporated within new development.
The Management Plan also deals with such issues as how new development should complement existing heritage assets and protect open spaces, biodiversity, trees and hedges.
The guidelines and references in the new document will be a key consideration for all future planning applications within the Conservation Area and so we want to know what you think.
