Sutton's Local Plan Consultation

Closed 8 Apr 2016

Opened 18 Feb 2016

Overview

The Sutton Local Plan is a development plan document and is part of the Government’s planning policy system, which was introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act in 2004. The purpose of the Sutton Local Plan is twofold:

  • To set out and deliver the council’s long-term aims and aspirations for the borough; and
  • To provide a consistent basis for deciding planning applications

It deals with subjects such as: major new regeneration areas, new housing development, retail, office and industrial development, infrastructure provision, the protection of green space, character and design, cutting pollution, climate change and transport. The plan will cover the time period of 2016 to 2031.  As part of the preparation of the Sutton Local Plan, this document has been produced to set out the issues and options and any preferred policies the council may already have for public consultation.

Why your views matter

We want your help in planning the Sutton of the future, of 2031.

We want to know how we can encourage the quality housing and employment space that will help our borough prosper, whilst retaining the suburban character of Sutton, and all the things we love about our area.
