The Future of Sutton Town Centre

Closed 16 Oct 2022

Opened 20 Sep 2022

Overview

The Council's vision for Sutton is a vibrant and sustainable town centre with great shopping, culture and food, modern flexible office space and good quality affordable housing.

We're already delivering a number of exciting projects to make this vision a reality. To help shape the next stage of our plans we're asking residents, businesses, visitors and community groups to tell us what you want from your town centre.

The story so far

Since launching our Sutton Town Centre Masterplan, we’ve been delivering a number of projects to create a thriving town centre.

We’ve transformed the Market House, the former RBS building, into a community hub with the Sound Lounge live music venue on the ground floor and the Volunteer Centre upstairs.

We’ve teamed up with Really Local Group to create Throwley Yard, a new cultural hub in the former Chicago’s nightclub that’s opening next year.

We’re working with Oru Space to create Oru Sutton, a new co-working, well-being and hospitality space on the upper floors of the former BHS store that’s also launching next year.

And we’re working with residents at Beech Tree Place and Elm Grove who have backed plans to regenerate their town centre estates and create higher quality, future-proof homes while improving the local environment for everyone.

Last year, we bought the St Nicholas Centre. This has given us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalise the town centre and respond to the challenges our high street faces, making Sutton an even better place to live, work and have fun. Now, as we develop our proposals for the town centre and the future of the St Nicholas Centre, we want to hear from you.
