Overview

Libraries are changing and modernising their offer to ensure that the service continues to meet customer needs. Sutton Council invests nearly £3 million in the Sutton library service each year.

We want to engage all residents on how they currently use libraries which will help explore better use of library buildings and spaces to meet the needs of customers, enable easier access, including the digital offer now and for the future. This includes considering plans to increase library opening hours by introducing a 'self access model' where customers can access libraries at times which might be more convenient to them.

Sutton Council also needs to save £20 million by 2026 and deliver its Ambitious for Sutton 2022 - 2027 priorities. We want to continue developing the library offer to customers whilst being able to deliver the savings that the Council has to make over the next three years.
