Proposals for Additional Licence for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) scheme
Overview
Privately-rented homes in Sutton now make up 21% of the borough's housing. It is really important to improve the condition and quality of properties in the private rented sector to ensure a safe environment for both tenants and landlords.
Sutton Council is inviting tenants, landlords, property agents and anyone with an interest in the private rented sector to have their say on proposals to introduce an additional property licensing scheme in the borough.
The scheme will require landlords to meet certain standards on the safety and condition of the property, helping the Council to clamp down on rogue landlords and ensuring better quality homes in the private sector.
