Stanley Park Road area (bounded by Stanley Park Road / Woodcote Road / railway line / Beeches Avenue)
Overview
The Council is proposing some changes to the Stanley Park Road area (bounded by Stanley Park Road / Woodcote Road / railway line / Beeches Avenue) to improve road safety. The changes include measures such as safer pedestrian crossing points, 20mph speed limit, more trees and more benches in the area. The aim of the proposed changes is to make the area safer to travel around, improve air quality and get people more active. These changes align with Transport for London's Healthy Streets approach.
What we are proposing:
- Stanley Park Road west of Shotfield - Proposed refuge island to assist pedestrians to cross and improve road safety. The proposed measure will require the introduction of a section of double yellow line to replace the existing single yellow line to ensure parked vehicles do not obstruct the flow of traffic past the island. View the plan.
- Stanley Park Road near Dalmeny Road - Proposed raised platform at the existing traffic signalled pedestrian crossing to slow down drivers on the approach to the crossing. View the plan.
- Stanley Park Road near Windborough Road - Proposed raised platform at the existing pedestrian refuge island. View the plan.
- Stanley Park Road near the roundabout with Beeches Avenue - Proposed raised platform to slow down drivers on the approach to the roundabout. View the plan.
- Crichton Road junction with Sussex Road - Proposed kerbline changes at the junction, raised platform entry treatment in Sussex Road and two road humps in Crichton Road to provide an improved crossing facility in Sussex Road and slow drivers down in the vicinity of the bend to improve road safety. View the plan.
- Proposed 20mph speed limit in the area currently not 20mph - These roads include - Anglesey Gardens, Anglesey Court Road, Beddington Gardens, Beeches Avenue, Boundary Road (between Park Lane and Stanley Park Road), Holmewood Gardens, Longacre Place, Northwood Road, Shotfield, Stanley Park Road, Woodcote Road (between Manor Rd and Stanley Park Rd), Woodfield Avenue. Healthy Streets
Most of the journeys that Londoners make - 80% - happen on our streets. The best way to get more people out walking, cycling and using public transport is to improve the quality of the experience of being on those streets.
The Healthy Streets Approach focuses on creating streets that are pleasant, safe and attractive, where noise, air pollution, accessibility and lack of seating and shelter are not barriers that prevent people - particularly our most vulnerable people - from getting out and about.
