Ridge Road - Proposed zebra crossing outside Brookfield Primary Academy
Overview
Sutton Council is committed to making our borough’s roads safer and giving people more choice in how they travel. We want to improve safety on roads to reduce the number and severity of accidents, to make it easier for people to walk or cycle and to improve air quality.
We are inviting you to give feedback on the proposal to introduce a new zebra crossing on Ridge Road, outside Brookfield Primary Academy, as shown on the plan below.
This proposal is in response to a petition received in May 2024. 285 people including teachers, parents, carers and residents signed the petition requesting the implementation of a zebra crossing outside the school to improve facilities for people arriving to and leaving the school.
The aim of the proposal is to improve the crossing facility outside the school, and to reduce the risk of accidents. This would provide a safer environment for all road users and make it easier for people to walk for their journey if they wish to.
To allow the zebra crossing to be safely implemented it will be necessary to have zig zag lines either side of the crossing point to make sure drivers and pedestrians can see each other. This will remove some parking spaces.
