North Street - Proposed Zebra Crossing
Overview
The Council have received concerns from ward councillors and members of the public regarding the difficulty to cross North Street in the vicinity of Carshalton College.
Funding from Transport for London (TfL) has been allocated under the Local Implementation Plan (LIP) programme to investigate, design and consult on this scheme during 2020/21.
The outline design of the zebra crossing has been completed and safety audited for the purpose of consultation. The proposed zebra crossing is located just north of property No. 67 North Street as shown on the plan below.
Pedestrians and traffic surveys suggest that a crossing is justified at this location. The crossing will assist pedestrians to cross North Street at this location and to encourage more pupils and staff to walk to school. Details of the proposed crossing are shown in the plan below.
