Neighbourhood Placemaking - Butter Hill

Closed 13 Dec 2021

Opened 18 Oct 2021

Overview

Sutton is one of the greenest and safest boroughs in London. We are ambitious about making more improvements, so that the borough has even more to offer its residents, visitors, businesses and communities.

Sutton Council is looking to explore ways that we can reduce pollution, promote healthier modes of transport and generally make our streets safer and cleaner for the Butter Hill neighbourhood. The quality of the physical environment is a key priority for Sutton residents and this is reflected in the Council’s Ambitious for Sutton corporate plan.

The importance of the physical environment has been brought into sharp relief by:

  • A growing awareness of the impact of climate change and the need to tackle it.
  • The lasting impacts that covid and the past 18 months have had on the borough’s residents, businesses and visitors.  One impact is the emergence of local places, businesses and communities as more important than ever.
  • An emphasis on quality of life and place shaping in the borough’s neighbourhoods. A key part of this will be a focus on how the Council and the community can work collaboratively to identify and shape priorities for local intervention to improve local places and make them safer.

Why your views matter

We are taking a collaborative approach to this consultation. Residents in Sutton are involved in deciding on and delivering improvements to their local area and together we are working to find new ways to improve our local neighbourhoods.

What happens next

We will use your consultation responses to develop options for your neighbourhood.  Any proposals that we take forward would be subject to funding approvals and we will notify you of a further consultation which will take place in 2022.
