Consultation on Lane Rental Scheme in Sutton
Overview
Sutton Council has applied to the Department for Transport to implement a Lane Rental Scheme to reduce disruption caused by roadworks:
- The scheme aims to better control roadworks and street works in key areas across the borough.
- Limit the amount of disruption by encouraging works to be done at less busy times and to finish early.
- Support the Mayor of London’s pledge to expand lane rental across London.
This scheme is being proposed in accordance with the Street Works (Charges for Occupation of the Highway) (England) Regulations 2012 (the Lane Rental Regulations) made under Section 74A of the New Road and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA).
