High Street/Oakhill Road, Sutton - Proposed Junction improvements
Overview
The Council had received concerns from ward councillors and members of the public regarding traffic safety and the difficulty of manoeuvring at High Street junction with Oakhill Road.
Funding from Transport for London (TfL) has been allocated under the Local Implementation Plan (LIP) programme to investigate, design and consult on proposed schemes during 2020/21.
The outline design has been completed and safety audited for the purpose of consultation as shown on the plan below. The proposed measures comprised of the following elements:
- Proposed 1.2m wide island in Oakhill Road junction with High Street;
- Widening Oakhill Road at junction with High Street to enable the installation of the proposed island at the junction;
- Proposed 'KEEP CLEAR' markings in High Street at junction with Oakhill Road to prevent traffic queuing in High Street to blocking traffic from exiting Oakhill Road; and
- Proposed hatch markings in Oakhill Road between the proposed island the existing island outside property No. 11 Oakhill Road.
Why your views matter
This is an informal consultation, we would like your feedback on the proposed measures by 12 September 2021. While it will not be possible to reply to you individually, all comments will be taken into account. At the end of this consultation period, officers will consider all responses received and a summary of the responses will be presented to the local ward councillors and you will be notified of the outcome of agreeing to the proposals.
Your feedback is essential to this consultation as it will enable us to continue to improve the scheme before we start the detailed design process.
