Downs Road-Cotswold Road junction - Proposed junction improvement

Closed 27 Oct 2023

Opened 29 Sep 2023

Overview

Following concerns from residents and Councillors regarding traffic safety and the difficulty of manoeuvring at Cotswold Road/Sutton Lane/Downs Road junction, the Council wishes to make adjustments to ensure better road safety. Data on recorded  accidents at the junction in the last five years is available to read.

Funding to investigate, design and consult on proposed schemes during 2023/24 was allocated under the Local Implementation Plan (LIP) from Transport for London (TfL) and an outline design for the junction has been created and safety audited, as shown on the plan below..

What is proposed?

The Council is proposing to install a raised speed hump (also known as a ‘junction speed table’) that spans the road to slow approaching traffic, ease manoeuvring and reduce the severity and casualty of road accidents.
