Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

Closed 10 Sep 2015

Opened 23 Jul 2015

Overview

The Council is preparing a new Local Plan to shape the future development of the Borough over the next 10-15 years. Under the planning regulations, the Council is required to carry out sustainability appraisal (SA) to ensure that the plan meets the environmental, economic and social aims of sustainable development. The SA Scoping Report has been published by the Council for public consultation for a 5 week period from 23 July to 27 August 2015. The report sets out key sustainability issues likely to be affected by the new plan and puts forward proposed appraisal criteria.

"Consulation period now extended by 2 weeks to 10th of September"

Why your views matter

We would like to hear your views on the attached SA Scoping Report and whether there are any other key sustainability issues which should be addressed by Sutton’s new Local Plan. The outcome of scoping will inform the preparation of Local Plan ‘issues and preferred options’, which will be published for public consultation in early 2016.

Comments can be sent in by email to either ldf@sutton.gov.uk or patrick.whitter@sutton.gov.uk, or alternatively by letter to the contact address provided. Copies of the report have been made available at all public libraries and at the Council’s offices. The Council will acknowledge all comments and publish all issues raised and our intended response on the Sutton website.
