The final Affordable Housing and Financial Viability Supplementary Planning Document was adopted in March 2020 and is now used to help secure more affordable housing when planning applications are submitted.
Overview
The council is seeking your views on the new Affordable Housing and Financial Viability Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which has been prepared to explain the Council’s approach to affordable housing and viability to local residents, applicants, developers and anyone with an interest in the process.
The document gives details of how the Council will apply the Local Plan’s affordable housing policy in relation to development viability when determining planning applications. It details what should be provided
by applicants at which stages during the planning and development process.

Why your views matter
The document is particularly aimed at developers, to ensure that the appropriate level of affordable housing is incorporated in future developments, in line with the requirements of the Sutton Local Plan. The council wants to make sure that residents and local businesses have their say too.
